To Thea

clip_image001Juliano Mer-Khamis, Thea’s cousin and director  of the Freedom Theatre in the West Bank city of Jenin,

was shot dead Monday, 4 April.

The 52-year-old was sitting in his car in the Jenin Refugee Camp, when masked gunmen shot him five times.

The Freedom Theatre   is the evidence of how  Education and Art  are  unfortunately   considered “dangerous” if they aim to  help  people  build up freedom and justice,  peacefully and creatively.

Particularly interesting and universal in the video about Freedom Theatre is the Animals’ rebellion against violence and injustice.  They are symbolic characters  taken from Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Italian students know this novel very well and therefore they are able to  appreciate and share  its universal value with the Palestinian children.
