Proviamo a seguire questa prima storica visita di Elizabeth in Irlanda. Vi tornano alla mente i grandi scrittori e intellettuali che abbiamo incontrato nel nostro viaggio “scolastico” attraverso la cultura e letteratura in lingua Inglese?

 

Oltre i grandi noti( Wilde, Joyce, Swift…) a me viene subito in mente il più vicino Frank McCourt con le sue storie di migrazione e di vita irlandese in Angela’s Ashes, ‘Tis a Memoir, Teacher Man e altre, tra il tragico, l’eroico e l’ironico…

 

 

 

 Day two -Queen to visit emotive Croke Park stadium

The Queen is to visit sports stadium Croke Park in Dublin, where 14 people were killed by British forces during a Gaelic football match 91 years ago.

On her second day in the Republic of Ireland, she will also attend a service honouring Ireland’s war dead.

Later at a banquet at Dublin Castle, she will make her only public speech.
